The first two videos in this section are not about distortion! They're just about reviewing your existing circuit and making sure everything is working correctly, before you add in the new circuitry for the distortion.

In this first video I review the process of plugging in the dual power supply and testing to make sure power is getting where it should. I recommend always doing this before testing out any complicated circuit, because if power isn't set up correctly, it's guaranteed your circuit won't work.

I also strongly recommend always double checking that audio is still successfully getting into and out of your existing circuits and everything is working correctly before you add anything to them.

As things get more complex you're going to find that many of the electronics concepts are not that complicated, and any issues you have with your circuits are far more likely to be because a wire accidentally fell out, or because you made a small wiring error. So doing basic tests like these is always a good idea.
