You'll need to get everything you got for chapter one, plus these additional parts from Mouser Electronics. Scroll through all the parts and make sure everything is in stock! If anything is out of stock or backordered feel free to email me at crudlabs@gmail.com, I should be able to find you an alternative to whatever parts are unavailable.
If you'd like to borrow a complete parts kit, email me, I might have one.
You may notice that in the parts list is a breadboard, even though you already have a breadboard. I think its a great idea to get a second breadboard, so that while you're wiring up a big and increasingly complicated circuit on one breadboard, you can have a separate one just for testing out new circuits, making sure you understand them, and then adding them into the main one.
For different reasons, I also had you buy one or two extras of some parts. I thought it was a good idea to have you get extras of various common, inexpensive parts that can easily break, just so you don't have to stop everything, place another Mouser order, and wait a week for it to arrive if you accidentally snap the leg off of a capacitor or burn out an op amp.
You'll also need some sort of powered speaker. For safety reasons, don't do this chapter with headphones! We'll be building amplifier circuits, which, if miswired, can either output a DC voltage, or an extremely loud audio signal, which are bad for your ears and potentially deadly for your headphones. Powered speakers, mixers, audio interfaces, and guitar amps are all much more forgiving and will work safely. Also they have master volume knobs which can be turned down. If you're using something with a 1/4" input I assume you can figure out the 1/8" to 1/4" adapter you'll need.
Once you've gone through this entire chapter you'll see what all the safety issues are and how to handle them, so definitely hold off on plugging your headphones in until you've successfully completed this chapter and have a clear picture of the hazards and how to avoid them.
